Two U.S. Army reservists in San Diego County were arrested Wednesday and charged with illegally selling guns, ammunition and body armor to an undercover federal agent posing as a member of a Mexican drug cartel.

According to a criminal complaint, Jaime Casillas, 22, and Andrew Reyes, 34, sold 10 guns, including four AK-47 assault rifles, and thousands of rounds of ammunition to the undercover agent. The complaint says some of the arms were military issue and others were bought in Texas and resold in California.

They were sold in seven different meetings with the undercover agent, who made it clear on multiple occasions that he worked for a cartel and the guns were bound for Mexico, the complaint said. The agents wore their military uniforms to at least one of the exchanges.

Reyes indicated that the body armor and ammunition magazines they sold were from military inventory, the complaint said.

The reservists got at least $13,000 from sales to the undercover agent.

Both men work in the Army National Guard Armory in La Mesa and were arrested Wednesday — Casillas during a traffic stop in El Cajon and Reyes at his home in La Mesa.

They were indicted on charges of dealing firearms without a license and the unlicensed transport of a firearm.

The two are scheduled to appear in court Thursday.

John Legend launching a campaign to end mass incarceration, FREE AMERICA.

John Legend is using his talents to address a social cause. The Academy Award-winning singer has announced that he is launching a campaign to end mass incarceration, FREE AMERICA.

“We have a serious problem with incarceration in this country,” Legend told the Associated Press. “It’s destroying families, it’s destroying communities and we’re the most incarcerated country in the world, and when you look deeper and look at the reasons we got to this place, we as a society made some choices politically and legislatively, culturally to deal with poverty, deal with mental illness in a certain way and that way usually involves using incarceration.”

The first things on Legend’s agenda will be to perform at a correctional facility in Austin, TX and then to attend a press conference with state legislators to talk about Texas’ criminal justice system. The Grammy-award winner will also co-host a criminal justice event with Politico in Washington, DC and pay a visit to a prison in California.

More artists will be added to the campaign in the future.

“I’m just trying to create some more awareness to this issue and trying to make some real change legislatively,” he said. “And we’re not the only ones. There are senators that are looking at this, like Rand Paul and Cory Booker, there are other nonprofits that are looking at this, and I just wanted to add my voice to that.”

Suge Knight Granted Bail Reduction In Hit And Run Case

Apparently the refusal to “snitch” on Suge Knight by Cle “Bone” Sloan, (the man he is accused of mowing down in his red pickup truck outside of “Tam’s” burgers in L.A.) has worked in Suge’s favor as he received some good news in court today.

The judge not only dropped one charge against him of hit and run, but he also lowered his bail from $25 million to a “much more doable” $10 million.

Suge’s attorneys stated that he could make bail as early as this week.

Hopefully if Suge is released on bail he will “steer clear” of any trouble out in them streets and work on getting his health in order before the trial. He is also still fighting an armed robbery case with co-defendant comedian Katt Williams over the theft of a paparazzi’s camera in 2014.

Stay Tuned….

Suge Knight’s bail reduced to $10 million in fatal hit and run case.

Via TMZ:

Suge Knight just got a big break … the judge in his murder case drastically reduced his bail, and it looks like bail is now doable.

The judge second-guessed his decision to set bail at $25 million, and lowered it this morning to $10 mil.

Suge’s lawyer, Matthew Fletcher, tells us, he now thinks Suge can make bail … as early as today.

And good news for Suge on another front. The judge dropped 1 of the hit-and-run counts in the fatal Tam’s parking lot collision.

The bad news for Suge … the judge didn’t drop the murder or attempted murder counts.
