Today marks 3 years since the brutal attack and murder of Hait’s former president.
Those close to the Haitian President Jovenel Moise say he had a strong premonition that something sinister would happen to him and he believed enemies were out to get him.
Days later Moise’s bullet-ridden body was found in the early hours of July 7 after what the Haitian authorities said was an attack by a commando unit of mostly Colombian mercenaries.
To date, 18 Colombians, some 20 Haitian police and a handful of other Haitian and Haitian-American suspects have been arrested.

Back in 2019, I visited war torn Haiti during a trip to Jamaica and was shocked by the state of the country. During the time, there were street gang wars and daily anti-government protests calling for the resignation of the president. Due to the danger posed by the violence, I was only there for less than a day.
