Producers Of Tupac Biopic File $10 Million Lawsuit Against Film Studio

To the dismay of Hip Hop fans everywhere, our beloved legendary Tupac’s long awaited biopic WILL NOT be hitting the theatres anytime soon.

According to All Hip Hop:

The producers of Tupac’s biopic are about to go head-to-head in a court battle. According to Billboard, the production company Emmett Furla Oasis has filed a lawsuit against Morgan Creek Productions for setting a budget and production schedule and selecting a leading star without their approval. Emmett Furla is seeking $10 million in damages.

Randall Emmett and George Furla say the film had been stalled until they came on board in 2013. When Emmett and Furla became apart of the film, their agreement with Morgan Creek Productions stated that the production budget would not exceed $30 million, they would be included in the approval of the production schedule and would have full control over who would be the director and leading man.

Emmett and Furla claim that they arranged a deal with Open Roads Films for the biopic but Morgan Creek rejected it initially, only to return to them and sign a deal. This violated the production agreement. Morgan Creek also suddenly rushed Emmett/Furla to produce evidence that they could pay for half of the film’s budget or risk not being a part of the film after the success of Straight Outta Compton biopic. They also wanted them to agree to new terms that were not in their original agreement and brought them a budge of $34 million. Emmett and Furla also claim that Morgan Creek was meeting with an actor that they were pursuing to play Tupac without informing them, which was apart of their agreement.

Emmett and Furla are claiming breaches of contract, breach of the implied covenant and breach of fiduciary duty.

Former Kingpin Rick Ross Arrested In Cali Holding Over $100K

Freeway Ricky Ross, 55, the former Los Angeles kingpin that ruled the country at the height of the crack cocaine epidemic, was arrested last week on suspicion of possessing drug money, the New York Daily News reports.

According to the News, Ross was in possession of over $100,000 at the time of his arrest in the Emerald Triangle, “a region in northwestern California famous for legal and underground marijuana production.”

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office cited an ongoing investigation but offered no further details.

According to the New York Daily News:

Ross — not to be confused with the gangsta rapper who took his real name as a stage name (and then got sued in a dismissed case) — was one of the most notorious drug runners of the 20th century, setting up a nationwide empire based in Los Angeles at the height of the nation’s crack epidemic in the ‘80s.

He controlled thousands of employees and earned more than $600 million before getting convicted in 1996 for selling cocaine to a police informant.

After his release in 2009, he went on speaking tours detailing his drug dealing days, and told his story in the 2014 memoir “Freeway Rick Ross: The Untold Autobiography” and the 2015 documentary “Freeway: Crack in the System.”

Ross is also heavy on the social media scene. It remains to be seen whether this arrest has any merit or if he’s being targeted for his past life.

4000 Rounds Of Ammunition Found At The Office Of Dudus Coke

As the Tovoli Enquiry resumed today, a soldier today testified that his team found 4000 rounds of ammunitions in a car in front the Presidential Click headquarters of Tivoli Gardens don Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke.

Major Marlon Kennedy said the rounds were the largest found in the operation and appeared to be a resupply point for gunmen opposing the security forces, which had a warrant for Coke’s arrest in May 2010.

The rounds – those of AK 47, M16 and 9mm – were kept in bottles, bags, and a wash pan in the vehicle.

Kennedy also testified that one of the men from his company had been shot in the hand during the operation and is now restricted to administrative duties at the Jamaica Defence Force headquarters in Kingston.
