Today is 420 Cannabis Day

Today is a NATIONAL HOLIDAY!!! Happy 420 Day to all the cannabis connoisseurs and advocates.

Marijuana has been proven by medical research to provide a multitude of health benefits to its patients. Thanks to new legislations the miracle plant is rapidly becoming legal in more and more US states. Hopefully it will become legal in all 50.

So far the states that have legalized marijuana are Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, South Dakota, Vermont, Virginia, and Washington.

According to thecannabisindustry.com, “studies have also shown that consuming raw cannabis has the potential to treat lupus, arthritis and neurodegenerative diseases, help stimulate appetite and decrease nausea, prevent the spread of malignant prostate cancer cells, and prevent cell damage that can lead to serious illness and poor health”.

These are just a few of the advantages identified by scientists, healthcare professionals & advocates in the fight to push government for legalization.

Social justice groups are also calling for the immediate release and criminal record expungement of any federal and state offenders. According to Filter Mag, “A coalition of 85 advocacy organizations led by the Drug Policy Alliance (DPA) has sent an open letterto President Joe Biden, demanding that he work with Congress to deschedule cannabis, removing it from criminal drug laws, and approve legislation to legalize and regulate it”.

Now these are the kinds of causes I can definitely get behind. Why continue to withhold all of the wonderful benefits of the Mary Jane from the general public?

That being said — inhale and exhale and enjoy the “holiday”. *cough*

Happy 420!

Oh and because weed is an herb, there are various ways to consume the plant without actually smoking it.

If you’re not a toker check out this article: 7 Ways to Consume Cannabis Without Smoking.

To commemorate the 420 holiday here is a video of a high school band reciting the 90s smokers hit, “I Got 5 On It” by The Luniz. Pretty impressive especially being as though these kids were not even born when this song came out. lol!

Native American History: The Original Founding Fathers

Native American history is very near and dear to my heart. Being from the south, I grew up on the Trail of Tears and I have strong Native ancestry to both the Cherokee & Seminole tribes.

I enjoy reading and researching this integral part of my American history. I love collecting artifacts & exploring the culture.

In 1838 and 1839, as part of then President Andrew Jackson’s Indian removal policy, the Cherokee nation was forced to give up its lands east of the Mississippi River and to migrate to an area in present-day Oklahoma. The Cherokee people called this journey the “Trail of Tears,” because of its devastating effects.

Some 100,000 American Indians forcibly removed from what is now the eastern United States to what was called Indian Territory included members of the Cherokee, Choctaw, Chickasaw, Creek, and Seminole tribes.

While cruising Facebook I came across this very interesting page called Native American History.

The page highlights historical facts about the plights of Native Americans in America. They also have a website where you can pick up authentic souvenirs & clothing.

If you’re on Facebook, follow the Native American History page.

Check out the website NATIVE BLOOD and cop you some native heirlooms.

Let’s help represent our tribes and help keep the legacy of our founding fathers alive and well. Without them, there would not be many of us.

Nashville Store Employee Shoots Pregnant Woman Accused of Shoplifting; Claims Self Defense

Based on my basic knowledge of the law and retail theft protocol, this is definitely NOT self defense. I could be wrong.

I have a few questions.

First of all, why would the employee follow the shoplifter(s) OUTSIDE of the store? By law the theft occurred once the shoplifters exited the building with the stolen merchandise. I can understand the employee attempting to get a license plate number or car description of the shoppers but other than that he should have let the authorities do their job. There was no need to engage the suspects any further. Having worked a retail job before, I am almost sure this is not proper protocol.

Some will say the woman should not be shoplifting while 7 months pregnant. I agree but shoplifting is not a violent crime. Nobody will die from shoplifting (unless they are shot by a semi automatic pistol).

Take the poll below and let me know if you think the employee should be fired? Arrested? Arrested and fired? Or was this self defense?

WKRN Nashville — A Walgreens employee was notified by another employee that two women were stealing items from the store. The employee told police he saw the women putting items into a store cart and into a large over-the-shoulder bag. The employee said he began recording the women with his cell phone and followed them as they left the store without paying for the items.

According to investigators, the employee said as the women began putting items into the trunk of their car, he made his way to the back of the car. That’s when one of the women reportedly pulled a can of mace and began spraying at him.

The employee then pulled his semi-automatic pistol and began shooting, saying he was afraid and did not know if either of the women were armed. The women then fled in their car while the employee went back into the store and called 911.

Investigators said one of the suspected shoplifters, a 34-year-old woman, was seven months pregnant and had been shot multiple times by the employee. The woman she was with dropped her off at General Hospital and drove away. An ambulance then took her to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
