Atlanta Auntie Shirleen Prays For Women To Stop Being So Desperate For Love

Some of you may remember “Aunt Shirleen” from her pleas to stop women from wearing waist shapers after her neice “fell out at the Red Lobster on Candler Road.” Hysterical. See the video here.

Aunt Shirleen’s cries to “stop training your waist-ess” sent the internet into hysterics and branded her skits (in my opinion) alongside Tyler Perry’s “Madea” and Rickey Smiley’s “Sister Bernice Jenkins” as one of the funniest southern women impersonations of today’s time. I can’t get enough! If you’re from the south, you know a Aunt Shirleen or you HAVE a Aunt Shirleen.

Well Aunt Shirleen is back! This time she is calling an emergency church meeting to pray for her friend Bernice’s neice “Proserity” who “took a whole church van” down to the jail to date some prisoners.

I laugh, but I was actually approached a couple years back by a casting agency to participate in a show about prison wives. After a few casting meetings, I respectfully declined, mainly because I wondered what the outside world would think. According to Aunt Shirleen I would’ve been “desprut” for love. Soon after, me and my “prisoner” went on to split. Thank God I dodged a bullet with that one! Literally.

“All Eyez On Me” Hits Theaters On Tupac’s Birthday — June 16th

All Eyes

The long awaited and highly anticipated biopic film based around one of hip hop’s most prolific artists, Tupac Shakur, is ironically set to debut on his birthday, June 16th. He would have been 46 years old.

The film, which chronicles Pac’s journey from up and coming rapper to international hip hop and media sensation, looks to be another street classic. The look and feel of the movie reminds me of one of my other favorite hood masterpieces, “Straight Outta Compton” which debuted in 2015. I appreciate how this film incorporates his parents, Afeni and Mutulu Shakur, and portrays their lives as Black Panther Party members and how it shaped and created — Tupac.

Tupac’s stepfather, Mutulu Shakur is currently still incarcerated for his alleged role in a 1981 Brinks bank robbery. His mother Afeni, who was also a Black Panther Party member and the central figure of one of Pac’s most revered songs, “Dear Mama,” went on to become one of the world’s most well loved and respected political activists for the black community. She passed away May 2, 2016 of cardiac arrest. Up until her unexpected death, she oversaw her late son’s estate and music dealings. Tupac is still said to have hundreds of unreleased songs and poems in his catalog.

There are multiple petitions in support of Mutulu, the former bank robber turned revolutionary leader and activist who is now referenced as, “Dr.” Hopefully the success of this movie will aid in expediting Dr. Mutulu’s release, who is now in his mid 60’s. According to Biography channel, he was set to be released in 2016.

MutuluIsWelcomeHere.com was launched by supporters of the former Black Liberation Member, who has been in jail for over 30 years.

Philando Castile’s Girlfriend Diamond Testifies In Trial Against Police Officer

Diamond Reynolds didn’t just watch her fiancé die at the hands of a police officer. She made sure the world watched, too.

There was nothing Reynolds could do to save Philando Castile. As he bled, the officer kept his gun pointed into his car. Reynolds’ only recourse was to broadcast the shooting’s aftermath on Facebook Live. Within hours, countless strangers had watched Castile’s final moments — and decried what they called excessive police force.

Now, 335 days later, Reynolds will take the stand for a second day to testify in the Minnesota officer’s manslaughter trial.
