Former Police Commissioner Testifies That The Shower Posse’s Code Of Silence Made It Impossible For Authorites To Investigate West Kingston Crimes

JApolice — The former Commissioner of Police testified that the crime that took place in other communities across Jamaica also occurred in the Tivoli Gardens community.

Commissioner of Police Owen Ellington yesterday gave the Tivoli Gardens Commission of Enquiry further insight into the power of the Presidential Click led by Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke.

Ellington — who was responding to questions from attorney Alexander Williams, who is representing several Tivoli Gardens residents — said that the police never gave up on reaching out to the residents of the West Kingston community.

He said that an attempt was made to start a youth club there in the early 2000s, but the plan was resisted by the Presidential Click.

Ellington said that the club was eventually formed, but with the compromise that it be named after the criminal gang.

He said that after the 2010 operation to apprehend Coke, who was wanted in the United States on drugs and gunrunning charges, the club was relaunched and renamed the Tivoli Gardens Police Youth Club.

The former top cop said the police were then able to run the club as they do the other police youth clubs across the island.

During the afternoon session, Ellington — in a testy exchange with Independent Commission of Investigation (INDECOM) boss Terrence Williams — said that he wasn’t pleased with the compromise that was made.

He said the name Presidential Click was associated with a criminal organization and to brand the group like that would be like supporting the gang.

Earlier, during the morning session, the former top cop testified that the crime that took place in other communities across Jamaica also occurred in Tivoli Gardens.

He said, however, that the police were prevented by criminals from accessing the community to investigate these crimes, which included murders. He added that criminals there enforced a code of silence that made it impossible for crimes committed in the community to be investigated.

Sons Of True Crime Author Accused Of Robbing Her For Over $100K

True crime writer Ann Rule’s sons are charged with theft and forgery. Prosecutors say they stole more than $100,000 of their mother’s money.

According to charging documents, Michael Rule is accused of forging $103,628 of his mother’s checks.

His brother, Andrew Rule, is accused of coercing or harassing his mother into giving him $23,327.

“I have never in my life, as God as my witness, stolen anything whatsoever from my mom,” said Andrew Rule.

Investigators were tipped off about the charges of financial exploitation last month when her son-in-law emailed the King County Prosecutor’s office.

Court documents also show that when some checks were overdrawn, one of Ann Rule’s caregivers helped her download an app at a bank where she has an account. Through the app, the documents say, Rule discovered her checks were being forged.

According to prosecutors, “Andy would pester and bully Ann relentlessly for money, sometimes, threatening suicide, sometimes trying to make her feel guilty, sometimes screaming obscenities at her, until she would finally give in and write him a check.

We asked Andrew Rule, “Did you steal money or harass your mom for money?”

He replied, “Absolutely not. Absolutely not.”

When asked about the allegations, he said, “Basically I used to have a gambling problem but I don&’t anymore and I have absolutely no idea why I was pulled in at the same time my brother was.”

No one came to the door at Michael Rule’s house when KIRO-TV tried to ask him about the forgery allegations.

Ann Rule is a true crime writer best known for “The Stranger Beside Me,” about serial killer Ted Bundy, and her book about child murderer Diane Downs, “Small Sacrifices.”

An Ex-Associate Of Dancehall Artist Vybz Kartel Killed In St Catherine Drive By

A man known to be the former associate of Vybz Kartel, businessman Jamie Ridley was shot during a drive by this morning in the Portmore, St. Catherine parish of Jamaica.

Ridley’s girlfriend “Poochie”, a well known entertainment personality was also shot in ambush.

The incident happened during a fish fry held by Portmore dance personality, Diamond.

The only person killed in the drive by was the 34-year-old businessman Jamie Ridley.

According to local news reports, the incident occurred at about 1:30 am, when a Toyota Corolla pulled up, occupied by an unknown number of gunmen, and allegedly opened gunfire hitting Ridley and two others.

An off duty officer was at the scene, but the shooters were still able to escape.

Ridley’s girlfriend, “Poochie” was taken to hospital.

As of now, there has been no known motive for the shooting.
