Video Of Alfred Olango Killing Released

Following an onslaught of demand that the images be make public, El Cajon police released a video clip showing an officer fatally shooting an unarmed Ugandan immigrant during a confrontation near the Parkway Plaza shopping center.

According to Fox 5 San Diego:

Police Chief Jeff Davis and District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis will lead an afternoon briefing during which they will disseminate the cellphone and surveillance-camera footage depicting the death of 38-year-old Alfred Olango.

Olango was mortally wounded Tuesday afternoon during a confrontation with officers behind a fast-food restaurant near the intersection of Interstate 8 and state Route 67.

The shooting sparked widespread protests on the streets of the East County city, with demonstrators insisting that Olango died at the hands of police because he was black.

On Thursday night, a demonstration at the site of the fatal encounter near the intersection of Interstate 8 and state Route 67 turned violent as protesters stopped vehicles, broke car windows and knocked a motorcycle rider to the ground.

 

Teen Gunman Shoots 2 Children And A Teacher At South Carolina Elementary School

Two children and a teacher were shot by a gunman at an elementary school in Townville, South Carolina.

According to KTLA:

The suspected shooter, a teenager, is in custody, deputy chief Taylor Jones said.

The students were sent to a local trauma center, Jones said.

One child was taken to Greenville Health System emergency trauma center by helicopter, spokeswoman Sandy Dees said.

The teacher also was hospitalized. The severity of the injuries is not known.

The mother of a student at Townville Elementary School told CNN Greenville affiliate WYFF that her daughter and classmates huddled in a bathroom.

“Her teacher was shaken up. I know all the kids were scared. There was a bunch of kids crying,” the unidentified woman said. “She didn’t talk for about five minutes when I got her. … I’m just so scared. I don’t even want her to go to school now.”

I received this book yesterday via e-mail from Amsterdam Publishers, and I spent all of last evening reading from beginning to end.

I know I have many friends, social networking friends and followers who are interested in learning more about the Holocaust, but are unsure as to where to start, or are hesitant to read about or see photos of mass execution, slaughter and such horrid mistreatment done to humans by humans.

No matter how wrong or horrid, history must be told. Lessons need to be learned, memories need to be shared, so nothing like this ever happens again.

I highly recommend this book if this time in History interests you.
