10 Years After Going Missing, Still No Natalee Holloway; Possible New Developments In The Case

Natalee Holloway, an 18-year-old graduate of Mountain Brook High School in Birmingham, Alabama, traveled to the Caribbean island of Aruba with 125 members of her senior class. On Monday, May 30, 2005, she did not show up for her flight back to the United States.

Witnesses said Natalee was last seen leaving a nightclub in a car with three males — Joran Van Der Sloot, 17; Deepak Kalpoe, 21,and Satist Kalpoe, 18. The three originally told authorities that they dropped the Alabama honors student at the hotel where she was staying, but their story has changed many times since the early days in the search for Natalee Holloway.

New Lead in the Case?

Mar. 22, 2015 – Natalee Holloway’s father is trying to get Aruban officials to investigate a witness’ report that the missing Alabama teen is buried under the floor of a hotel. Dave Holloway says an Amsterdam man claims to have seen Joran Van der Sloot place Natalee’s body at the construction site.

Dave Holloway spoke with Jurrien de Jong several times in 2013 about the disappearance of Natalee on May 30, 2005. De Jong said he was hanging out at the closed construction site for the Marriott Aruba Surf Club Hotel when he saw Van der Sloot and Natalee enter the property.

De Jong also told his story to the Dutch newspaper The Alegmeen Dagblad. He said he later saw Van der Sloot carrying Natalee’s body into a crawl space under the building. He said Van der Sloot dug a hole and put her inside. He covered the hole with sand and walked away.

De Jong was at the site that night because he was participating in illegal, drug-related activities. That’s why he did not come forward at the time.

Dave Holloway told reporters that he remembers a strong scent of decay when near the construction site shortly after Natalee disappeared. He said Aruba’s public prosecutors should not ignore De Jong’s story.
