Walmart Apologizes For N-Word Slur In Product Listing On Its Website

Walmart

Via KTLA– Walmart has apologized for an offensive slur used by a third-party seller in a product listing on its website.

The product description listed the hair cap color as “nigger brown.”

Walmart issued a statement Monday saying it too is upset by the use of the word on its site. Walmart declined to identify the vendor that was selling it.

Danit Marquardt, director of corporate communications for Walmart issued the following statement:

“We are very sorry and appalled that this third party seller listed their item with this description on our online marketplace. It is a clear violation of our policy, and has been removed, and we are investigating the seller to determine how this could have happened.”

He said the third party seller has been completely removed from Walmart’s site as it investigates further.

Walmart initially removed the offensive word from the title of the product, but it remained in the item’s details, where the color is listed.

By Monday morning the term had also been removed from the details portion of the listing, and the item itself was no longer available. Only the black version of the cap appeared to be listed.

I find it mind boggling that Walmart is still selling any color of this particular product on their website.

You would think that the retail giant would immediately distance itself from any company advertising products and/or using this kind of “offensive” language to its consumers. Clearly the almighty dollar reigns supreme!

Shame on you Walmart! #BlackLivesMatter

UPDATED:

Walmart has since responded to my tweet and offered a more personal apology and says that they have completely removed the seller from their website.

The big box retailer pledges to implement a more effective filtering system in attempts to identify offensive language before it is shared in the marketplace. I accepted and appreciated their apology.

Philando Castile’s Girlfriend Diamond Testifies In Trial Against Police Officer

Via KTLA:

Diamond Reynolds didn’t just watch her fiancé die at the hands of a police officer. She made sure the world watched, too.

There was nothing Reynolds could do to save Philando Castile. As he bled, the officer kept his gun pointed into his car. Reynolds’ only recourse was to broadcast the shooting’s aftermath on Facebook Live. Within hours, countless strangers had watched Castile’s final moments — and decried what they called excessive police force.

Now, 335 days later, Reynolds will take the stand for a second day to testify in the Minnesota officer’s manslaughter trial.

‘Go Back To Africa’ Comment Leads To Racist Judge’s Resignation

(TIML NEWS) How many times were you taught that the judicial system was supposed to be fair? How many times have you heard that explicit bias happens between prosecutors and judges? Even though the system is supposed to be fair to all persons, no matter their race, color, creed, nationality, or sexual orientation, the truth of the matter is that people in the judicial system come with their biases and preconceived notions. What’s even more troubling is that misplaced as well as misguided beliefs are used in rendering decisions that impact lives, families, and communities forever.

Case in point – a judge in the state of Florida has resigned after he was investigated into saying that ‘black Americans go back to Africa.’ That’s right; you read it correctly. A judge who has the responsibility of imposing innocence or guilt on an individual had the gall to say that Blacks should go back to Africa.

The judge in questioned in Mark Hulsey III. According to a report in Bossip, “Hulsey, 66, was already the focus of a probe by the Judicial Qualifications Commission for having allegedly called a female staff attorney a “bitch” and a “c—” and for saying blacks should “get back on a ship and go back to Africa.” In addition to this, he was alleged to have degraded and demean female lawyers saying they were like ‘cheerleaders who talk during the national anthem.’
