Piper Kerman’s number one goal is to reduce the number of people in prison.
She spent 13 months at a correctional centre in Danbury, Connecticut from February 2004. As a white, middle-class prisoner, Kerman quickly became aware of the ways the prison system fails Americans – but particularly poor Americans, and people of colour. Since her stint behind bars, she’s become a vocal advocate for prisoners rights.
She’s been on the board of the Women’s Prison Association for six years and teaches non-fiction writing in two prisons in Ohio. And in a move that brought her story to prominence, she also wrote a memoir that served as the inspiration for hugely popular Netflix show Orange Is The New Black.

According to sources, No Plug (L) and Bankroll Fresh (R) had just gotten into an altercation prior to the rapper’s death at an Atlanta studio
The streets know who killed Bankroll Fresh.
There has been tons of speculation about who shot the popular Atlanta rapper and now the Internet streets are talking!
According to Gossip On This:
Various sites are reporting that Bankroll Fresh and another rapper named No Plug got into a fight inside the studio prior to the shooting. No Plug is also being accused of being responsible for Bankroll Fresh’s death.
This is something someone who claims to have knowledge of the shooting wrote (either in a comment or a post) on social media:
Well I just wanted to let you all know what exactly happened. The homicide was between artist Skully (aka No Plug) and Bankrollfresh. A fight took place in the studio and they ran off with bankroll’s gun. He chased them and when he got outside they started firing at him. There were soo many gun shells because both sides were firing shots outside.” – Instagram
The quote comes from Instagram, however, its authenticity or who exactly posted it cannot be verified.
Instagram user Streetmoneycnote10 also posted a photo of Bankroll Fresh with the caption:
“If one nigga would have help me stop that fight my lil brother would still be here.”

No Plug says the shooting was in self defense & that he and Bankroll Fresh had known each other since age 10 or so. According to him, throughout the years (particularly when Bankroll’s rap career began taking off) the two grew apart because of jealousy, hate & envy on Bankroll’s part, eventually destroying their friendship. He said the two at some point supported each other mutually and that Bankroll Fresh encouraged him to get into the rap game.
No Plug says as soon as the ‘altercation’ happened which resulted in Bankroll Fresh being “hit,” he spent $10k on “Gucci Mane’s attorney” & lawyered up. From there he went straight down to “homicide” (department) to turn himself in.
He says he was cleared of charges based on the video evidence & witness statements presented to the investigators and the shooting was deemed self defense.
Clearly he’s not scared or bothered by this whole incident by the way he smiles throughout the interview, but in a strange way he does seem somewhat remorseful about what happened to his former friend.
He tells VLAD TV that he wanted to put his side of the story out to clear the rumors and speculation about what really happened that March night at Street Execs studio. He admits the whole situation is “sad” but assures that any retaliation from the streets would result in “more self defense charges.”
Rosa Isela Guzmán Ortiz says she is willing to take a DNA test to prove she is El Chapo’s daughter
The Guardian quoted Rosa Isela Guzmán Ortiz as saying during a three-hour interview last July that her father was not a criminal, but a businessman who had built a successful business with the approval of the Mexican government.
“My dad is not a criminal. The government is guilty,” said the 39-year-old owner of a chain of car washes, beauty salons and cafes, charging that he had been betrayed by government officials as well as his Sinaloa Cartel colleague Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada
Guzmán Ortiz showed the newspaper private family photographs of her father and letters he had sent from jail as well as several pieces of identification, including her birth certificate.
As well, a church minister in Badiraguato, Sinaloa, the cartel boss’ hometown, confirmed the daughter’s identity.
Guzmán Ortiz’ said her mother was a teacher in Guadalajara in the mid-1970s when she met Joaquín Guzmán, who was then working for the Guadalajara Cartel. Their daughter was born in Zapopan in November 1976, according to the report.
Yesterday, however, Joaquín Guzmán’s wife released a letter saying that neither she, Guzmán or other members of his family knew Guzmán Ortiz and rejected the claim that she was the drug lord’s daughter.
Emma Coronel also said she would ask for a DNA test.
The Guardian story also revealed that Joaquín Guzmán had decided to retire and turn the cartel leadership over to his son Iván Archivaldo, a plan that didn’t sit well with “El Mayo” Zambada, who is said to have been running the gang while El Chapo Guzmán was in jail.
Guzmán Ortiz claimed that the two had arranged to meet at a hotel in Mazatlán in February 2014. But Mexican authorities showed up instead and arrested Guzmán.
Said the woman claiming to be his daughter:
“He had already retired, it was just a question of smoothing it with El Mayo, but it seems the old man didn’t much like the idea,” she said. “We’re completely sure El Mayo betrayed him. They used to always meet in private places and my dad found it strange that he had suggested that place.”
Guzmán Ortiz says she married “El Mayo” Zambada’s son, Vicente Zambada Niebla, on the instructions of her father, but later separated. Her ex-husband is now in a U.S. prison after he was arrested in Mexico in 2009 and subsequently extradited.
Her current partner is the nephew of another Sinaloa Cartel boss, Juan José Esparragoza Moreno, known as “El Azul.”
