
The four teens were charged with attempted murder, but upgraded charges are pending since Penton has now died.
Penton was brought to the hospital with a traumatic brain injury and several broken bones, but doctors ultimately were unable to save her. She was remembered in the wake of her death as a “Mama Bear,” always protective of her kids, WFLA reported.
“I can understand her putting herself in harm’s way to protect her children,” Polk County city manager Patricia Jackson said.
This is so sad. Rest In Peace Suzette Penton. Nobody deserves what was done to this woman just trying to protect her child. And over a romantic entanglement? Are you kidding me?!
