Australian Farm Grazes Cows On Cadbury’s Chocolate

This story has nothing to with crime, as a matter of fact, quite the opposite.

According to Fortune Magazine, an Australian farmer is grazing his cows in the lap of luxury. While most cattle that produce the top grain beef known as “wagyu” graze on just plain ol grass, his cows are chowing down on gummy bears and Cadbury’s chocolate. Yummy.

Forget the days of premium grass-fed beef. Nowadays, chocolate-fed Wagyu is the new luxury beef, an Australian cattle farm claims.

Scott De Bruin, managing partner of 171-year-old Mayura Station, wants everyone to know his cows are eating what he calls only “the best”: Cadbury’s chocolate, along with gummy bears and other ingredients.

He tells Fortune in an interview.

“A happy cow is a good cow.”

De Bruin believes the term “Wagyu” is overused on menus, so his company is simply renaming its products “Mayura beef.” Overall, the “Wagyu” label has become too generic, which doesn’t do suppliers any favors in relaying the different qualities of beef available, explains Mayura’s distributor, Jason Lo.

Feeding chocolate to cows isn’t particularly new. Farmers have turned to the sweets in the past to help keep costs down amid high corn prices, and candy has also turned up in the feeds of dairy farmers, who’ve used it to boost the content of butterfat in their cows’ milk.

But De Bruin says his regime—which involves weekly deliveries of 10 tons of chocolate—has a few secret ingredients, and, overall, brings his costs up about 25%.

“To actually include this in the feed is actually quite expensive for us. It’s much more expensive than feeding corn. So for us, it’s not about lowering the cost or producing it more economically. This is about producing an item that distinguishes itself in flavor.”

Couple Accidentally Texts Strangers About Newborn, Strangers Show Up To Congratulate Them At Hospital

What a sweet story…

I thought I’d break up the monotony a little with this one.

These guys are the good guys and the world needs more people like them. I’m happy to help this kind of news go viral.

Check out this heartwarming story of two families coming together over the birth of a newborn, posted on People Magazine.

Basically, the two families didn’t know each other from Adam’s apple and a text mixup ended with them meeting at the hospital. The strangers even came bearing gifts for the sweet newborn. Nice!

Humanity still does exist.

Couple accidentally texts strangers about newborn, strangers show up to congratulate them at hospital

A texting mix-up over a newborn resulted in a heartwarming moment between strangers.

Dennis Williams received a text on Saturday, March 19, informing him that a couple was having a baby.

“We are at the hospital. Having a baby today!” the text read, followed by, “She has dilated to between 5-6.”

Deorick and his brother Dennis wrote back:

“Congrats lol but I think someone got the wrong number”

But that text went unheeded, and soon enough, the two received a picture of the newborn, to which Dennis responded:

“Well I don’t know y’all but me and the boys will be thru to take picture with the baby”

The new parents on the other end of the line realized their mistake and apologized, but the Williams insisted on showing up with gifts.

The family, Lindsey and Mark Knox and their newborn son Cason, later posted on Facebook about the whole thing themselves, writing:

“What a blessing these two guys were to our family. They were so sweet and kind to do this! You 2 are great guys and thank you for giving to someone you didn’t know! If we all only had this kind of a heart.”

It is no secret that “African-American women are the largest group of readers in the country,” states Dawn Davis, head of Simon & Schuster’s 37 Ink imprint. It is also no secret that the publishing world is very, very white, with books by black authors published at an abysmal low, never rising above 10 percent of the industry’s output. Indeed, a recent survey by Lee & Low publishers found that “just under 80 percent of publishing staff and review journal staff are white,” with “Black/African Americans [at] 3.5 percent.”

But even with such conditions, key figures such as Chris Jackson, Dawn Davis and others have shepherded books by black authors through their fellow gatekeepers and to the public. Other organizations, like Cave Canem, the Kimbilio Center for African American Fiction and…
