Son Of Black Mafia Member Set To Be Released

Marlon Welch

According to BOSSIP, Black Mafia Family’s Marlon Welch is set to be released on his sentence for drug conspiracy and money laundering, and the 34-year-old said the future looks bright.

Welch told BOSSIP by phone from FCI Tuscon, a federal prison in Arizona:

“I’m in a finance course, and I had somebody do my own corporation.  I’m going to be getting into real estate and finance.”

Welch allegedly used that business acumen to propel the Black Mafia Family, or BMF, into a huge drug distribution network that operated from coast to coast. As part of his guilty plea, Welch admitted he helped BMF heads Terry “Southwest T” Flenory and Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory distribute cocaine and counted millions in drug proceeds. As part of pleading guilty, he had to forfeit $270,000 to the government. Welch’s mother, Tonesa, her boyfriend Terry Flenory, and three of his cousins were also jailed for their roles in BMF.

But Welch said he’s left that life behind, and when he’s released, he’d like to be a mentor, and speak to kids about the importance of financial literacy.

“If we learn those types of things at an early age, teaching them about business, credit, finance –if we learn those types of things at an early age, it sets the foundation to build something. I think that was one of my biggest problems. Having money and not knowing what to do with it.”

Besides his new business ventures and working with kids, Welch said he’s also looking forward to his first meal on the outside: fried chicken.

“I like lamb chops and shrimp, but I have a craving for something as simple as Popeye’s.”

Dope Readz: Crack, Rap & Murder by Seth Ferranti

“We were all friends [Chiles, Porter, and Martinez]. Preceding him killing Rich we were all cool on the street. We hung out. We got money. The fact that he told on anyone is not okay for me, and there is nothing to discuss, but even if he didn’t tell, we still wouldn’t be good because he killed Rich. I’m not cool with how that went. –Kevin Chiles, CEO – Don Diva Magazine
This week’s Dope Readz comes courtesy of prison inmate-turned-acclaimed street legend author Seth Ferranti and tells the life story of Harlem hood legends Alpo Martinez & Rich Porter.
