The Cartel Theory Raised In OJ Simpson Trial

On the latest episode of FX’s American Crime Story, Johnnie Cochran and O.J. Simpson’s defense team mentioned a Colombian drug cartel theory in court.
According to Cochran, the cartel was responsible for the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. He also mentioned a technique used by the drug dealers called the Colombian Necktie — which, under any circumstances, you should not Google. The drug cartel theory revolved around Faye Resnick and her reported drug use prior to the time of the murders. The theory was just that — a theory — but has Resnick ever spoken out about it?

In The People v. O.J. Simpson, Cochran and the defense team proposed a “drug theory” as a possible explanation for the murders.

A New York Times article published during the trial detailed what Cochran proposed. According to him, the murders were not a result of an upset ex-husband – O.J. Simpson – but rather, drug dealers.
The theory was dismissed months later.

According to Judge Ito, the defense was “highly speculative” and the team was not allowed to mention Resnick’s alleged drug use to the jurors. This was a pretty big blow to the defense, since Cochran hoped to bring in Resnick’s then-boyfriend, Christian Reichardt, as a witness.

On Today: Diddy Was Acquitted Of NYC Night Club Shooting

It’s hard to believe it’s been almost 20 years since the now infamous NYC nightclub “incident” involving Diddy & his entourage. I remember it so vividly. Such a travesty and a reminder to be loyal to those who are loyal to you.

The shooting landed Puffy’s artist, Jamal “Shyne” Barrow, behind bars and some hip hop heads crying foul because Puffy seemingly distanced himself from the young “Bad Boy” artist once shit got real. Fans accused the bad boy mogul of leaving his artist on his own to fight the case and rot in prison.

Puffy’s mugshot. He was also arrested after fleeing the shooting scene and was chased by the cops. They found a loaded handgun under the front seat of the vehicle he was riding in

It all started one night in 1999:

On December 27, Shyne, along with Combs and his then-girlfriend, Jennifer Lopez, allegedly were involved in a high-profile shooting incident at a Manhattan club, which left three people injured and the 21-year-old rapper, whose debut album was pending release, facing charges of attempted murder, assault, and reckless endangerment.

On today’s date in 2001, Puffy, thanks to his own “dream team” of high profile defense attorneys, including famed Johnny Cochran, was found not guilty of any charges.

  • Shyne was sentenced to 10 years.
  • Jennifer Lopez decided she really wasn’t about that hip hop life & relinquished her “Jenny from the block” moniker & distanced herself from Puffy. The power couple soon broke up and she started dating Hollywood actor, Ben Affleck.
  • Puffy went on to become Diddy and grow his Bad Boy enterprise into one of the most powerful conglomerates in hip hop & entertainment.

Crazy.

Atlanta Rappers Johnny Cinco & YFN Lucci Shoot Up Arkansas Nightclub

The rap game has seemingly replaced the dope game in terms of danger levels “on the job.” Nowadays rappers are almost always targets for violence and the line between fan & foe has become foggy.

Personally I love hip hop, but I don’t frequent many clubs/concerts anymore, mainly because folks don’t know how to act. A fight or shoot out(s) is almost guaranteed. I definetly don’t need the trouble anymore. I left that in my 20’s.

Anyway, a shocking video has surfaced online of ATL rappers YFN Lucci & Johnny Cinco scuffling with a crew of their concert goers in Little Rock, Arkansas.

According to the Internet streets, a fight broke out and goons in the crowd made attempts to snatch one of the rappers’ chains. The result was gunfire in the middle of a crowded nightclub. Surprisingly, no reports have surfaced of anyone being hit.

Shit is really real out here in those rap streets! Read more on XXL
