Daughter of Drug Kingpin Pablo Escobar Avoids the Public Spotlight

Manuela Escobar is perhaps best known for being the only daughter of the notorious Colombian drug kingpin Pablo Escobar. But unlike her father, Manuela has never been accused of a single crime — and she refuses to show her face in public.

One of the most famous recluses in the world, Manuela first vanished from the spotlight in the 1990s. Though her mother and brother were also in hiding for several years, they now freely give interviews to the press and share their personal stories about Pablo with anyone who will listen.

Meanwhile, Manuela has refused to participate. What’s more, she hasn’t been seen outside for so long that few people even know what she looks like anymore.

And as it turns out, there’s an incredibly tragic reason for that.

According to her brother Juan Pablo (who still goes by the name Sebastián Marroquín), Manuela has attempted to take her own life. And now, she reportedly lives with her brother and his wife for her own health and safety.

Even worse, her brother has claimed that she still lives in constant fear of being discovered. She apparently believes that anyone who knows her identity will associate her with the crimes of her father and that someday, her loved ones will end up paying for his atrocities with their own lives.
