Take the Poll: Is Asking For a Tip Tacky?

Hustlers!

I am back from another brief hiatus and I missed you guys real bad!

For the last few months I have been focused on life & more life but I had to stop by and get your opinions about this tipping topic. It’s starting to erk my soul.

First let me say this, I’m an excellent tipper. I believe that great service deserves great tips. I have worked many “jobs” in which I relied heavily upon tips so I’m definitely a part of tip nation. That being said, is it ever appropriate (outside of the strip club) to ASK for a tip?

I recently visited two different restaurants in my hometown and on both occasions the waitresses (ringing up my to go order) asked me if I would like to add a tip to my bill.

Excuse me? Um no I wouldn’t. Simply because you asked.

Feeling put on the spot, of course I ended up adding a tip but I wanted to say, “tipping is not mandatory you tacky b*tch”. Not to mention, I watched her ring up at least 3 other people and didn’t ask them for a dime.

My thing is, I don’t mind taking care of people but why is a tip expected on to go orders? I mean who started that expectation?

Dine-In tipping? .. Yes. To-Go tipping?.. not so much.

I generally tip to go servers anyway because I understand the tip game and I enjoy and appreciate good service, but let’s be real, sometimes I may not be in the mood to tip mediocrity.

Plus as high as food is nowadays, asking for a tip should be out of the question. It gives very tacky.

What do y’all think? Am I just being a tight wad? Take the poll, let me know.
