Pick any film, any actor and any genre.
There are so many great masterpiece films that come to mind but since we’re on a crime based blog, we’ll stick to crime based movies.
This list is so hard to narrow down but if made to choose, my top three would be: Al Pacino as Miami drug lord Scarface, Johnny Depp as drug trafficker George Jung in Blow and Denzel Washington as Harlem drug trafficker Frank Lucas in American Gangster.
SCARFACE: As an Italian actor, Pacino completely embodied the role of the Colombian refugee turned notorious drug lord Tony Montana. By bringing the fictional character to life on screen, his award winning depiction of a 80’s Miami drug lord made this crime fiction film an all time classic. To date, Scarface is one of the most recognized movies in the crime genre.

BLOW: Actor Johnny Depp is literally a rock star cosplaying as an actor — a great one at that. In the 2001 real life based movie Blow, Depp portrays George ‘Boston George’ Jung, a US drug trafficker with connections to narcotics kings Pablo Escobar and Carlos Lehder Rivas (portrayed in the film as Diego Delgado), and the Medellín Cartel.

AMERICAN GANGSTER: In the 2007 crime blockbuster film, Hollywood award winning actor Denzel Washington brought out the big guns to portray Harlem’s once notorious crime family boss Frank Lucas. The film is loosely based on the criminal career of Lucas, who rose to power by smuggling heroin into the United States on American service planes returning from the Vietnam War.
