Investigators arrested several alleged members of the violent drug gang, Ghost Face Gangsters, along with a grandmother they say played a key role in the case.
Patty Green was arrested and is currently (as of March 9, 2015) being held in Newton County detention center on charges that she aided in racketeering with the Atlanta area gang.
The gang is said to be more than 400 strong in Georgia and heavily involved in the meth drug trade.
Green said she is totally innocent of the charges against her:
“I have grandchildren. I’m definitely not a racketeer. I am not a criminal.”
According to the indictment which paints Patty Green as a key associate of the gang, supposedly started inside Georgia prisons.
The investigators say it has 228 confirmed members plus an estimated 200 associates outside prison.
When asked had she ever heard of the “Ghost Face Gangsters” she said:
“I’ve heard of a lot of different gangs. But I don’t even believe that they’re really gangs”
The indictment accuses Patty Green along with Zachary Young and others of conspiring to murder a witness in a murder case against Chad Allen, Green’s son.
The indictment claims multiple rounds were fired into Chad Allen’s residence. There was five people inside the home at the time of the shooting but none were reportedly hit.
Patty Green vehemently denies orchestrating or taking part in any murder plot:
“Never … I’m a very kind and friendly and outgoing person”
The indictment also alleges that Patty Green’s house was used as a drug hub by her son, who was indicted on meth charges, to help distribute the drug.
Allegedly the Ghost Face Gangsters is a major distributor of meth and Green and her associates are charged with smuggling the drug as well as cellphones, tobacco and other contraband to inmates in state facilities.
She denies such allegations:
“It’s like I want to wake up from this bad nightmare”
The nine-month investigation involved 11 Georgia agencies including the Newton County DA, The Department of Corrections, the Newton County Sheriff’s Office and the Rockdale County Sheriff Office.
The investigation turned up an alliance between the Ghost Face Gangsters and the Oldline Gangster Disciples.
