Burglar Enters Atlanta Home Through Doggy Door

Ok! First of all, I didn’t know doggy doors still existed, or that people really still have them.

Second of all, you have got to be a skinny mofo to fit through a doggy door.

Third of all, how do you just make yourself at home so easily in someone else’s home? Especially when you are not invited or wanted there?

Join the discussion.

According to Channel 2 Action News (Atlanta)– A burglar decided a dog door would be the perfect way in to an Atlanta home.

Once inside, he helped himself to whatever he could fin, but one of those things he grabbed led police right to him.

Brian, who wanted to remain anonymous, said:

“I cant believe this is happening to me.”

He said he never thought of the swinging dog door as a security threat until now.

Brian wants homeowners to beware of the unusual way a crook got into his place.

“Once we heard his voice and then him enter through doggie door, we knew somebody was in our house.”

He was in the next room when Michael King got on all fours and crawled into his house, leaving the family dog, Tipper, outside.

“I was terrified in my bedroom, underneath my bed. I was able to grab an alarm pad that triggered motion detectors.”

That was enough to trip the alarm which alerts police.

Brian said the crook stole his iPad, iPhone, wallet and other small items that were on the kitchen counter. And he says King didn’t hesitate to make himself at home.

“He kinda went straight for the fridge and grabbed a couple of beers and Red Bull then proceeded through the house.”

Brian said the crook left the same way he came in, but he didn’t get very far.

He used the “Find my iPhone” app to help police catch the man who crawled in to his home.

Brian plans to install a new dog door equipped with a security lock to make sure he’s safe.

Atlanta Man Pours Boiling Water On Gay Couple In Bed

Martin Blackwell, 48, was arrested and taken to the Fulton County Jail, charged with two counts of aggravated battery

According to Channel 2 Action News– A young couple is recovering from severe burns after police say a man threw burning water on them — because they are gay.

The victims told the Atlanta news station that they were sound asleep, resting after a long day at work, when they were attacked.

Marquez Tolbert was attacked by his mother’s boyfriend who threw hot water on he and his lover for being gay

Marquez Tolbert said:

“The pain doesn’t let you sleep. It’s just, like, it’s excruciating, 24 hours a day, and it doesn’t go anywhere.  It doesn’t dial down, anything. It’s just there.”

Tolbert believes that the second and third-degree burns along his neck, back and arms are scars of hate.

Tolbert asked:

“Why else would you pour boiling hot water on somebody?”

The 21-year-old and his boyfriend, Anthony Gooden, were severely burned last month when the men say Gooden’s mother’s boyfriend walked in on them sleeping in Gooden’s College Park apartment and poured scalding water all over them.
Tolbert said:

“I can barely think straight because the burning, the stinging is everywhere.”

Memorial Hospital undergoing surgery that took skin from his thigh to replace skin on his back.
Gooden got out the hospital on Friday.

Martin Blackwell, 48, remains in the Fulton County Jail, charged with two counts of aggravated battery.
Tolbert said:

“Martin pulled me up and said, ‘Get out of my house with all that gay. I couldn’t stop screaming.”

Even though he said he wouldn’t put up with the couple in his house, Blackwell did not live in that apartment. It belonged to Gooden and his mother, but Blackwell was frequently visiting.

According to a police report, Blackwell said he was disgusted by the men’s relationship:

“They’ll be all right. It was just a little hot water on them.”

Tolbert asked:

“Like, where was your head at? Why would you do this?”

An Atlanta Police Department LGBT liaison assisted in the case to make sure Blackwell did not make bond.
Although they don’t exist in the state of Georgia, the liaison said federal hate crime charges are a possibility in the case, and an upcoming hearing will address that.
