Trump Says He Is Doing The Military A ‘Great Favor’ With Transgender Ban

Via Variety— Donald Trump defended his decision to ban transgender individuals from the military, saying that he’s doing the armed forces a “great favor” on an issue he calls “complicated” and “confusing.”

Trump, speaking to reporters in Bedminster, N.J., said:

“I think I’ve had great support, or I’ve had great support from that community. I got a lot of votes. But the transgender, the military’s working on it now.

It’s been a very difficult situation and I think I’m doing a lot of people a favor by coming out and just saying it. As you know, it’s been a very complicated issue for the military, it’s been a very confusing issue for the military, and I think I’m doing the military a great favor.”

Trump’s announcement of the ban, in a tweet on July 26, reportedly caught military leaders by surprise.

Defense Secretary James Mattis had announced that the department was reviewing the policy, but that was expected to last through the end of the year.

Trump’s announcement of the ban drew criticism from the LGBT community, Democrats, and some Republicans on Capitol Hill.

Chad Griffin, the president of the Human Rights Campaign, called Trump’s comments on Thursday “delusional.”

“Donald Trump’s attack on transgender troops weakens our military and is a betrayal of those who wear the uniform. Fifty-six retired admirals and generals, Republican and Democrat elected officials, and a majority of the American public have all condemned Trump’s misguided and despicable policy that will do nothing but undermine military readiness and harm brave transgender service members and their families.”

I wanna her from you.

Do you think that trans-gendered people should be able to actively serve in the military?

“Apple has now issued a critical security patch for all iOS devices and for Mac computers against a potential hack that could come remotely via Wi-Fi.”

Carrasco says the company is urging users to install the updates to protect their devices.

“The virus is being considered a potentially serious threat.”

The latest cyber threat is also a risk to Android device users, but Google has taken steps as well to block the virus.

“The vulnerability also has the potential to attack Android devices, but Google issued its own security patch earlier this month.”

Trump Cuts Obamacare Assistance In 18 States

Obamacare

AP – Donald Trump’s administration has ended Affordable Care Act contracts that brought assistance into libraries, businesses and urban neighborhoods in 18 cities, meaning shoppers on the insurance exchanges will have fewer places to turn for help signing up for coverage.

Community groups say the move, announced to them by contractors last week, will make it even more difficult to enroll the uninsured and help people already covered re-enroll or shop for a new policy. That’s already a concern because of consumer confusion stemming from the political wrangling in Washington and a shorter enrollment period.

People will have 45 days to shop for 2018 coverage, starting Nov. 1 and ending Dec. 15. In previous years, they had twice that much time.

Some see it as another attempt to undermine the health law’s marketplaces by a president who has suggested he should let “Obamacare” fail. The administration, earlier this year, pulled paid advertising for the sign-up website HealthCare.gov, prompting an inquiry by a federal inspector general into that decision and whether it hurt sign-ups.

Now insurers and advocates are concerned that the administration could further destabilize the marketplaces where people shop for coverage by not promoting them or not enforcing the mandate compelling people to get coverage. The administration has already threatened to withhold payments to insurers to help people afford care, which would prompt insurers to sharply increase prices.

Elizabeth Hagan, associate director of coverage initiatives for the liberal advocacy group Families USA said:

“There’s a clear pattern of the administration trying to undermine and sabotage the Affordable Care Act. It’s not letting the law fail, it’s making the law fail.”

Absolutely horrible.
