WATCH: Victoria Gotti Says She Never Knew Dad John Gotti Was in the Mafia Until Her Wedding Day

Victoria Gotti

Victoria Gotti is often remembered as one of the most notorious “Mafia Princesses” to ever come out of New York’s underworld.

She was the glamorous youngest daughter of John Gotti—the man who would become the infamous boss of the Gambino crime family.

But here’s where the story gets dark…

Victoria has said that, growing up, she didn’t fully understand what her father was involved in. The family had a way of keeping “the life” behind closed doors.

Then came her wedding day.

John Gotti

Thousands of people showed up. Strangers lined the streets. Powerful men paid homage to her father. And suddenly, the stories she had spent years dismissing as rumors didn’t feel like rumors anymore.

That wedding wasn’t just a celebration.

For Victoria, it was the moment the curtain finally came down—and she got a glimpse of the world her father had been hiding from her all along.

But here’s the part I have a hard time swallowing…

Victoria Gotti has said she didn’t fully understand who her father really was until she was a child—and that her family went to extraordinary lengths to shield the children from his criminal life.

But John Gotti wasn’t exactly living a double life nobody could see.

By the time Victoria was born in 1962, her father had already been running the streets for years. He had been involved with gangs, arrested repeatedly, and was already building a criminal reputation. One contemporary account documented nine arrests before 1969—for everything from street fighting and public intoxication to car theft, burglary and gun possession. (Los Angeles Times)

And in 1969, when Victoria was only seven, her father was sent to federal prison for a hijacking conviction. According to CBS, the family was even told that he was away working, and Victoria eventually learned the truth about his imprisonment. (CBS News)

So could a child have been deliberately kept in the dark?

Absolutely.

But believing her father was simply an ordinary dad?

That’s where the story gets a whole lot harder to swallow.

Because John Gotti wasn’t some man who woke up one morning and suddenly became a gangster.

He had been in the streets long before Victoria was old enough to understand what “the life” meant.

Nonetheless, it’s not unusual for the families of gangsters to maintain a certain distance from the crimes of their loved ones. But in Victoria’s case, it’s hard to believe she was truly that far removed from it all. After all, she didn’t just know a gangster—she married one, for God’s sake.

What do y’all think?
