Deceased Rapper Pimp C’s Son Expresses Dissatisfaction With “Long Live The Pimp” Album

Legendary rapper Pimp C’s Long Live The Pimp project was released today, December 4. This album is the late rapper’s first project in more than four years.

Pimp C’s widow, Chinara Butler, curated the music for the set.

Pimp C’s son, Chad Butler, Jr., released a statement about “Long Live the Pimp” to express his dissatisfaction with the rollout of his father’s music.

I want Pimp C fans to know that his family – myself and my younger brother Corey Butler – had no part in the creation of this ‘new’ Pimp C album and don’t receive any of the benefits from album sales,” he says via press release. “The only person who benefits is his wife Chinara, who doesn’t return phone calls or communicate with us at all, and possibly our sister Christian, but even that is debatable. My father was always supportive of myself and my brother, and I know he wouldn’t want us to be forgotten as a part of his legacy.

Pimp C died in 2008 from a combination of factors including a codeine overdose and complications from a pre-existing sleep condition.
