California Man Arrested After Shooting Himself And Then Blaming Someone Else

This guy. I have a lot of questions for this guy….

A man in Oxnard has pled not guilty to felony charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, negligent discharge of a firearm resulting in injury and a misdemeanor charge of unlawful possession of ammunition after he allegedly shot himself in the stomach and then said another person did it.

Tyler Acosta, 25, pled not guilty in Ventura County Superior Court on Monday after being arrested on Thursday on charges of illegally possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. Authorities said Acosta shot himself in the abdomen with a handgun.

In late April, Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call from the Ojai Valley Hospital emergency room about a gunshot victim there, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.

At the hospital, they found Acosta with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen, and he allegedly told them that he had been walking through a field near North Ventura Avenue and Crooked Palm Road in Ventura when he was confronted by a man who accused him of theft, according to Ventura County officials. The two men got into a physical fight, and then the other man produced a handgun and shot Acosta with it, according to the account that sheriff’s deputies say Acosta told them.

However, “physical evidence obtained that night” and further investigation since then all indicate that Acosta’s account is not entirely true, Sgt. Ron Chips said. It appears that Acosta actually shot himself in the abdomen, not someone else, Chips said.

Over the course of their investigation, Ventura County detectives found evidence indicating Acosta had been in unlawful possession of a handgun. Acosta also had a 2013 conviction for being a felon in unlawful possession of a firearm — a charge that prohibited him from legally possessing firearms and ammunition, according to a news release from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.

That is why Acosta allegedly lied to authorities about having a handgun and shooting himself with it, according to Chips.

“He didn’t want to tell the true story,” Chips said.

Since the case is ongoing, Chips said Ventura County officials cannot not release any more information about what they believe really happened when Acosta shot himself in the stomach.

Acosta was arrested on Thursday at an apartment complex in the 300 block of West Vineyard Avenue in Oxnard. Officials found a fixed blade dagger as well as “a usable quantity of methamphetamine and prescription medication” in Acosta’s possession at the time of his arrest, according to a news release from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.

He was booked into the Ventura County Jail with his bail set at $100,000. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 28 at Ventura County Superior Court.

Walmart Apologizes For N-Word Slur In Product Listing On Its Website

Walmart

Via KTLA– Walmart has apologized for an offensive slur used by a third-party seller in a product listing on its website.

The product description listed the hair cap color as “nigger brown.”

Walmart issued a statement Monday saying it too is upset by the use of the word on its site. Walmart declined to identify the vendor that was selling it.

Danit Marquardt, director of corporate communications for Walmart issued the following statement:

“We are very sorry and appalled that this third party seller listed their item with this description on our online marketplace. It is a clear violation of our policy, and has been removed, and we are investigating the seller to determine how this could have happened.”

He said the third party seller has been completely removed from Walmart’s site as it investigates further.

Walmart initially removed the offensive word from the title of the product, but it remained in the item’s details, where the color is listed.

By Monday morning the term had also been removed from the details portion of the listing, and the item itself was no longer available. Only the black version of the cap appeared to be listed.

I find it mind boggling that Walmart is still selling any color of this particular product on their website.

You would think that the retail giant would immediately distance itself from any company advertising products and/or using this kind of “offensive” language to its consumers. Clearly the almighty dollar reigns supreme!

Shame on you Walmart! #BlackLivesMatter

UPDATED:

Walmart has since responded to my tweet and offered a more personal apology and says that they have completely removed the seller from their website.

The big box retailer pledges to implement a more effective filtering system in attempts to identify offensive language before it is shared in the marketplace. I accepted and appreciated their apology.

Donald Trump Tweets Video Of Him Choke Slamming A CNN News Reporter

trump-CNN-tackle-640x479

This wonderful Pre-4th of July Sunday morning “President” Donald Trump was feeling undefeated and decided to take to his Twitter setting the internet streets ablaze by tweeting a video directed at CNN news, referring to them as “fake news.”

In the grainy throwback video, ‘The Donald’ emerges during a WWF (WWE?) wrestling match to throws hands with his opponent whose face is strategically covered with a CNN logo. Trump hashtagged the video “#CNNFakeNews #FNN.

Anti-Trumpers are calling foul and questioning the mental health of a presidential leader who would encourage such violence and barbarity.

Personally, at this point nothing Donald Trump does surprises me. Amuse? maybe, but surprise, no. He’s gotten away with so much rotten behavior, even pre-presidency, that I don’t expect much. Unfortunately, he is like watching a train wreck that you can’t take your eyes off of. *insert eyeball emoji*

According to CNN:

On Sunday morning the president’s personal Twitter account, which has 33 million followers, posted a 28-second video of a WWE broadcast. The video was edited to show Trump beating up a man with a CNN logo on his face.

A short time later, the official @POTUS account retweeted Trump’s tweet to its 19 million followers. It is one of the president’s most-shared, most-retweeted posts ever.

Sunday marked another escalation in Trump’s ongoing war against the news media — and against CNN in particular.

Trump, a frequent CNN viewer, regularly lashes out at the network’s coverage.

Some of his fans laughed at the video. Others rolled their eyes. But it was taken seriously by members of the media, some of whom have faced threats for their reporting.

Some Twitter users flagged the tweet and reported it to the social networking company, saying it violated the company’s terms of service prohibiting “hateful conduct.” But Twitter said it determined that the tweet is not a violation.

In a statement, CNN called it a “sad day when the President of the United States encourages violence against reporters.”

The statement brought up the fact that Trump’s deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said just a few days ago that “the president in no way form or fashion has ever promoted or encouraged violence. If anything, quite the contrary.”

“Clearly” Sanders “lied,” the CNN statement said.

“Instead of preparing for his overseas trip, his first meeting with Vladimir Putin, ‎dealing with North Korea and working on his health care bill, he is involved in juvenile behavior far below the dignity of his office,” the statement added. “We will keep doing our jobs. He should start doing his.”

Several journalism advocacy groups also weighed in.

“We condemn the president’s threat of physical violence against journalists,” the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press said. “This tweet is beneath the office of the presidency. Sadly, it is not beneath this president.”

And Dean Baquet, the executive editor of The New York Times, said “I think it is unseemly that the president would attack journalists for doing their jobs, and encourage such anger at the media.”

What do you think? Has Donald Trump officially lost his mind or is he justly exercising his 1st amendment?

CNN political analyst Carl Bernstein said:

“It’s not just anti-CNN. It’s anti-freedom of the press. It’s very disturbing. There’s nothing lighthearted about it whatsoever.”
