When the Queen of rap’s Junior Mafia Lil Kim the Queen Bee linked up with the Real Life Gambino Mafia Queen Bee daughter Victoria Gotti, hip hop history was made and a friendship we didn’t know we needed was born.
As a Lil Kim fanatic back in the day, I always felt labels didn’t know what to do with Kim or her music. She was such an iconic talent who transcended the hood and streets but still managed to embody that hood girl persona. When Junior Mafia’s “Player’s Anthem” hit the streets in 95, every hood girl in my hood wanted to be Kim. Her style and delivery was something so unique and she definitely held her own alongside the biggest boys in the game.
After Biggie’s death and issues with her label, Kim’s music slowed up but every now and then she would release a gem just for the streets.
“Came Back 4 U” was one of her masterpieces that most Kim fans wished had gotten a bigger push. The song was already a hood classic but once Victoria Gotti showed up in the video, the track and video was cemented as one of the most gangster collabs in hip hop history — the visuals were sick.
Kim made fashion history (again) for the fur bikini. Females are still trying to duplicate this look but the Bee wore it best.
Check out the video of John Gotti’s oldest daughter Victoria talking about how her fondness for Kim and how the collaboration came together.
